How Does It Work?

International European University uses the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). The ECTS is a system used by European universities-participators of the Bologna Process to facilitate students’ and professorial staff mobility. Based on the ECTS, one academic year is equivalent to 60 ECTS credits, and one semester is equivalent to 30 ECTS credits. The first cycle qualification (or Bachelor’s degree) consists of 240 ECTS credits, while a second cycle qualification (or Master’s degree) consists of 90 to 120 ECTS credits.

To transfer credits from any higher education institution to International European University, students should take 30 ECTS credits per semester. A minimum full-time load per semester is 24 ECTS credits. International European University consults international transfer students about all the specific credit transfer policies of the university concerning their personal credit transfer program. Students work closely with academic advisors to ensure a smooth transfer process to International European University.

Note students need to provide the University with a mark sheet from their previous university, and only after the evaluation of the documents International European University provide you with results on whether you have been accepted or not and at which year of education. The documents will be applied to the Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation of Malta for certification to calculate the difference in academic requirements and credits. If the Ministry considers students’ qualifications equal to the Maltese educational standards, they will receive the Approval Certificate to start the classes.

Note that international students are encouraged to begin their application process as soon as possible to ensure their ability to start studying in their desired term and to take full advantage of opportunities.
