You can enjoy Maltese cuisine, which is exquisite and diverse. It reflects Maltese history and shows strong Italian influences as well as influences from Spanish, French, and Provençal cuisines. Maltese cuisine is based on simple, fresh ingredients, such as vegetables, fruit, fish, and meat. Olive oil, garlic, onions, and tomatoes are common ingredients in many dishes. Maltese cuisine also uses a variety of spices, such as cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.

Maltese cuisine can best be described as Mediterranean fare with continental and Arabic influences. Starters tend to be soups, pasta, risotto, or dips with bread or biscuits.
